Eugenio Casnighi said that since he stole the spotlight from Kylie Jenner at the 2023 Met Gala, the authorities thought that he made the event about himself and fired him at the last moment.
Italian model Eugenio Casnighi has been banned from the star-studded Met Gala ceremony this year, scheduled to be held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. In a series of TikTok videos, the 26-year-old claimed that the organisers “disinvited” him to the gala event for his handsome OTT looks. In fact, in the 2023 Met Gala, Eugenio Casnighi’s rugged avatar was a show stealer among the masses, even overshadowing popular beauty mogul and internet personality Kylie Jenner who was in attendance. The model, who acted as a greeter at the Met Gala earlier claimed this to be the reason that he was fired last minute.
In the TikTok video, Eugenio Casnighi revealed that he has been “working for the Met Gala as a model and greeter in 2022 and 2023”. Although he was supposed to continue his job this year as well, the organisers decided to “cut him off” from the event, without prior warning. As per Casnighi, his handsomeness at the 2023 Met Gala was the focal point, with the organisers stating “You (Eugenio Casnighi) made it about yourself. So we can’t have you there anymore.” In the clip, he talked about how the event managers wanted him to escort Kylie Jenner at the 2023 Gala — a popular stint to help the models get noticed by the industry people.
Eugenio Casnighi added that a picture of him sharing the same frame with Kylie Jenner spread like wildfire on the internet. The Kardashians star was dressed in a crimson gown, while Casnighi could be seen holding her purse at a distance. The model continued that since he was walking alongside Jenner, he appeared in the background in some of the photos. The limelight was stolen from Jenner, which ultimately led to Casnighi’s ban from the Met Gala 2024.
Eugenio Casnighi posted another TikTok video where he shared some screenshots of emails and texts from the Met Gala authorities, reports Entertainment Weekly. They forbid Casnighi from posting any content related to the starry fundraiser ceremony. The model however is far away from the thought that Kylie Jenner might have complained about him, putting her on the “nice list”, alongside Kim Kardashian, Emma Stone, Blake Lively and Gigi Hadid.
